Digestion — Wastewater Process
Sludge stabilization, biogas capture, and digester mixing — turning biosolids into a manageable, stabilized end product.
What is Anaerobic Digestion?
Anaerobic digestion stabilizes sludge by breaking down organic matter without oxygen — reducing volatile solids, destroying pathogens, and producing biogas (primarily methane) as a recoverable energy source. The key operational challenge is ensuring effective mixing: without it, temperature gradients form, scum accumulates, grit settles, and active zones shrink — all of which reduce volatile solids destruction and biogas production. Proper digestion equipment selection directly impacts both biosolids quality and energy recovery.
Equipment We Represent
Landia — GasMix Digester Mixing System
- Recirculates a mixture of liquid and biogas to mix the digester
- All mechanical components outside the tank — service and maintenance without emptying or entering the sealed environment
- Documented to increase sludge reduction and biogas production
- Works with most tank types at volumes to 350,000 cubic feet and dry matter to 14%
- Landia is the only supplier offering this external-component approach to digester mixing
Landia — Chopper Pumps for Digester Feed
- Submersible and dry-installed chopper pumps for digester feed preparation
- Reduces particle size and prevents accumulation in feed lines and the digester
- Stainless construction for pH and corrosion resistance
- BioChop system available for food waste co-digestion preprocessing
EFI Environmental Fabrics — Covered Lagoon Digesters (CLDs)
- 489+ operating biogas lagoon systems in the US
- Geomembrane covers create hermetic seals for biogas collection while eliminating VOC and H2S release
- Complete systems including: floating covers, gas conditioning, flaring, cloud-based monitoring, and O2 injection for H2S removal
- GHG reduction up to 95%
- Odor reduction over 90%
LobePro — S-Series Rotary Lobe Pumps (Sludge Transfer)
- S-Series rotary lobe pumps for sludge transfer to and from digesters
- Self-priming, handles thickened and digested sludge
- Flow capacity to 2,500 GPM
