Clarification — Wastewater Process
Gravity settling equipment to separate suspended solids from wastewater — a critical step in both primary treatment and secondary effluent polishing.
What is Clarification?
Clarifiers use gravity to settle suspended solids out of wastewater. Primary clarifiers remove heavy settleable solids before biological treatment, reducing loading and improving efficiency. Secondary (final) clarifiers separate biological floc from treated effluent — producing the clean discharge and returning activated sludge to maintain the biological process. Proper clarifier design and operation are essential to meeting effluent quality standards and permit compliance.
